The idea of a nuclear war is on the minds of Western politicians: Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused Western politicians of thinking about nuclear war.

Arab News reports quoting news agencies that the statement of the Russian Foreign Minister came to light on Thursday, a week after the invasion of Ukraine by Moscow.

He also accused Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky of "leading a society where Nazism thrives."

"I would like to point out that the idea of a nuclear war is constantly circulating in the minds of Western politicians, but there is no such thing in the minds of the Russians," he told Russian and foreign media. '

Lavrov accused NATO of "maintaining its supremacy" and said Russia's intentions were right and that it would not allow anyone to harm its interests.

He added that Russia's military operation against Ukraine was aimed at preventing it from becoming part of NATO, among other things. Sergei Lavrov said Russian forces were targeting military targets in Ukraine.

He said the term "collateral damage" came into use when Western nations invaded Iraq and Libya.

On the other hand, the UN refugee agency announced on Thursday that one million citizens have been displaced from Ukraine in a week since the Russian invasion.

UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grande wrote in a tweet that "in just seven days, we have seen the displacement of one million citizens from Ukraine to neighboring countries."
