Bleeding from the gums is more common in children and adults and can be caused by gingivitis or inflammation of the gums. According to NDTV India, one of the reasons for bleeding gums may be the use of a stiff toothbrush or eating something hard.
However, it is not necessary that the gums are bleeding due to any disease but if this condition persists then it is necessary to treat it. It is important to consult a doctor if changing the brush or taking other health measures does not stop bleeding gums.
Early signs of chronic leukemia may be so mild that they may go unnoticed, but people with acute type of blood cancer called acute myeloid leukemia may have swollen gums and bleeding from brushing.
Acute myeloid leukemia develops so rapidly that people with it begin to show abnormal symptoms, but bleeding from the gums in both types of blood cancer can be an early sign of the disease.

Symptoms of leukemia include inflammation of the gums as well as possible lesions on the inside of the tongue and cheeks or possible changes in tooth size. Lack of platelets in the blood can also be a cause of gum bleeding or inflammation in children.
In children with acute myeloid leukemia, the symptoms begin to appear sooner. Complaints of bleeding gums in children should not be ignored.
Not brushing your teeth properly or brushing your teeth regularly can also lead to gum disease. Extreme caution is required in patients with leukemia. Often, chemotherapy or radiation therapy is needed to kill the cancerous cells, which can have serious side effects on the human immune system.
